Changing My Mindset: How Going All-Natural Helped My Health and My Wallet

Written by Luna Crag

I used to believe natural living was a luxury—something beautiful, but expensive. The kind of lifestyle you needed extra time or money for. I’d walk past shelves of “clean” products with fancy labels and higher prices and think, “Maybe someday.”

But that someday came when I started paying closer attention to how I felt—physically, emotionally, spiritually. I realized I was spending money on things that weren’t helping me heal. I was buying into convenience, but at a cost.

That’s when I decided to take a different path: a slower, simpler, more natural one.

What surprised me most?

It didn’t just help my health… it helped my finances, too.

Here’s how:

1. I Stopped Over-Buying Products I Didn’t Need

Once I switched to natural living, I didn’t need a dozen cleaners, lotions, or pills. A few basic ingredients—like vinegar, baking soda, essential oils, coconut oil, or beeswax—could cover so many needs.

Fewer products = fewer purchases = more money in my pocket.

2. I Started Making My Own Remedies and Products

Salves for sore joints. Teas for digestion. A roller blend for focus. I used to spend $10–$20 on each item. Now, with a few bulk herbs and oils, I can make multiple batches for a fraction of the cost.

And let’s be real—there’s something deeply healing about crafting your own care.

3. I Invested in Reusables

Paper towels, plastic wrap, cleaning wipes—they all add up. Swapping to cloth towels, reusable jars, and containers was an upfront cost, but one that’s paid off many times over.

Natural living teaches you to use what you have—and that mindset is priceless.

4. I Got Healthier—and Spent Less on Sick Days

When you eat closer to nature, clean your space without harsh chemicals, and use herbal remedies to support your body, things change. I noticed fewer headaches, less inflammation, better sleep.

And that meant fewer trips to the pharmacy or doctor, and fewer impulse buys when I didn’t feel well.

5. I Stopped Paying for Hype and Started Valuing Simplicity

I used to chase the next “miracle” product or solution. Now, I pause and ask: Is there a natural alternative? Can I make it myself? Do I really need it?

That mindset has saved me so much—not just money, but mental space.

Natural living isn’t about perfection. It’s about intention.

It’s about slowing down enough to ask what really serves you. And often, what serves you is simple, grounded, and already within reach.

If you’ve been feeling the nudge to switch, I say this with love: you don’t have to go all in overnight.

Start with one product. One remedy. One change.

And let the journey unfold—naturally.

You’ll be amazed how much lighter, freer, and yes—more financially at peace—you begin to feel.
